Colleges & Universities That Offer Scholarships to International Students: Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa

Finding the money to attend college or university can be quite a struggle, especially for international students. We will be answering that popular question every week by posting schools that offer scholarships to international students.

Georgia College

Georgia College provides a range of scholarship opportunities for international students. They offer the President’s Scholarship Competition, Goizueta Foundation Scholarship, Chemistry Research and Travel Scholarships, as well as Private Scholarships. Each of these scholarships have their own applications, deadlines, and award amounts. Georgia College is well known for offering undergraduate students partial scholarships and graduate students graduate assistantships. Georgia Southern University

Georgia Southern University offers scholarship resources and opportunities through an online platform called MyScholarships. MyScholarships allows students to easily search for scholarships, review requirements, apply and accept scholarship

University of Hawai`i at Hilo

University of Hawai’i at Hilo (UH Hilo) provides international students various scholarships. Students are able to apply to the University of Hawai’i’s System scholarships as well was UH Hilo’s scholarships. The application contains questions for students regardless of which campus they attend. UH Hilo also has an extensive list of external scholarship opportunities for students. Many of the external scholarships are from local businesses and organizations in the community. The list is frequently updated. University of Northern Iowa

University of Northern Iowa offers four different international student specific scholarships. As part of the Culture and Intensive English Program (CIEP), they offer the Cedars Valley Business Professional Scholarships, the Cedar Valley Permanent Resident, Refugee, and Asylum-Seeker Scholarship, Global Connections Scholar Award, and CIEP Tuition Scholarship. Each of these scholarships vary in award amounts. It’s important when applying for these programs to take note of the deadline. Kirkwood Community College

Kirkwood Community College offers scholarships specifically for international students as part of their International Programs course. They offer a scholarship for new students called the Global Citizen Scholarship. The scholarship offers students a $1,000 reward towards tuition. In addition, they offer the Hope Scholarship, Study Iowa Scholarship, and external scholarships which can be researched at the Kirkwood Scholarship Office.
