Colleges & Universities That Offer Scholarships to International Students: Maryland and Michigan

Maryland

University of Maryland Baltimore County

Howard Community College

Howard Community College offers a variety of scholarships and resources for international students. The most common scholarship for international students is the Ram and Asha Batra Memorial Scholarship for International Students. This scholarship is for degree-seeking international students with a minimum GPA of 3.50. The award varies depending on the student’s needs. Michigan

Western Michigan University

Western Michigan University (WMU) has various scholarships for undergraduate and graduate international students. The Diether H. Haenicke Scholarship offers merit-based awards ranging from $4,000 - $16,000 per year to international students who meet requirements. Incoming freshmen and transfer International students are automatically considered for this scholarship. There is no additional application required. The President’s Scholarship is available to new international graduate students from Spain or Mexico.The award is $4,000 per year and is merit-based. In addition to the scholarships, Western Michigan University offers Graduate Assistantships to qualified graduate students. Wayne State University

Wayne State University offers three different merit-based scholarships to eligible incoming undergraduate freshmen. The Warrior Award awards students up to $7,000 per year and up to four consecutive years. The Gold Award awards students up to $5,000 per year and up to four consecutive years. The Green Award awards students up to $2,500 per year for up to four years. Scholarships are awarded based on grade point average and test scores. Scholarships are competitive. University of Michigan - Flint

The University of Michigan-Flint provides scholarship opportunities to international students. The Freshman Merit Scholarship offers scholarships to students who meet requirements. The scholarship ranges from $3,000 to $7,000. International students will need to have an official ACT/SAT score to be considered for this scholarship. The International Student Scholarship provides partial scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $4,500 to eligible undergraduate international students.
