My Summer Break Plans: Going Home to Japan

Blogger Haruna Matsuoka wants to explore Japanese culture and history this summer plus make time to relax

Hi! This is Haruna from Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). I would like to talk about my future plan for summer break. This summer break is the longest break I have ever had. I am very excited for summer break because I am going to go back to Japan again and ready for the next step (transferring to 4-year university). The reason why I want to write down this topic is from my experience.

Why don’t you have just-for-fun in the summer break??

One day, I had a conversation with my friends after our class. My friend group is interested in Japan and they asked me a lot of good questions. Most of questions were about my culture and history. However, my English was limited at that time and some of them were very deep questions, so I could not answer them or I showed some pictures from Google. From this experience, I became frustrated with myself and I realized that I have to learn more about my country. So, I am planning to visit some of historical places and try to learn about culture.

What is My Plan?

I am planning to stay in my hometown and spend time with my family. I am going to swim in the lake or river with my dog, go to the ocean/beach with my friends, do fireworks, and enjoy summer fruits. However, I am also going to visit traditional festivals because there are so many beautiful festivals in Japan. In addition, I am going to go to historical places, and so on. Also, my hobby is to take pictures and videos so I want to enjoy my break. I would like to make an aesthetic video. In addition, I would like to do a digital detox so I will enjoy nature.

After Break

After the break, I am going to go back to Los Angeles and transfer to a 4-year university. I am very excited to start my new journey in a new environment.
