Studying Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Mississippi
Hyllore Imeri is a trained pharmacist in her home country of Kosovo finishing up her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Mississippi (aka “Ole Miss”). She chose Ole Miss for its highly acclaimed PhD program in health outcomes research, then found herself in an ideal environment: “After interacting with the faculty and fellow students, I became even more certain it was the perfect choice for me,” Hyllore said. “The small college town setting and friendly community also made it an attractive option.”

Studying English at Ole Miss IEP
Diamant Gashi from Kosovo is studying English at the University of Mississippi (aka Ole Miss) Intensive English Program. He is currently a licensed medical doctor in his home country and needs to advance his English skills to be able to integrate into the U.S. medical system. One of the reasons Diamant chose Ole Miss is because its IEP “is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in its classes,” he said.

Studying Business Administration at Lane Community College
Ryuto Susumu from Japan is a business administration major who spent two years at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon, then transferred to the University of Oregon. The smaller classes at Lane allowed Ryuto to engage more closely with professors, “leading to more meaningful interactions with them and enhanced learning experiences.”

Studying Biomedical Engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology
A passion for creating things paired with a love of biology led Marcello Mattei of Caracas, Venezuela, to pursue a career in biomedical engineering. The only problem was, this relatively new field of study wasn’t offered in his home country. So a career advisor recommended the program at Florida Institute of Technology. After earning his bachelor’s at Florida Tech, Marcello is now working toward a master’s degree there as well.
