Bonding with Food
Sohini, an international student from India at Lycoming College in Pennsylvania, missed food from home. So she started cooking it for herself, and then she started sharing it with her friends. “[The cooking group] is one of my ways of showing my friends that I’m here for you and I care for you,” said Sohini. “It feels like family. It is my family... I have found my group of people that I can say are there for me.”

International Financial Trading Competition Winners
In just a month, a team of Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU) graduate students grew $500,000 into $1.25 million and claimed a top prize in an international financial trading competition. Competing against 385 other teams from around the world, SIU’s “Saluki” traders took fifth place in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group University Trading Challenge.

Y Pham, born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, followed her brother Duc Pham to Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). Although her path was not always smooth, Y ultimately graduated from an Ivy League university. She now works in San Francisco as a healthcare designer at a large architecture firm.
