Saint Michael’s College: A University in Vermont, USA
Saint Michael’s College is a four-year university located in Vermont, one of the most beautiful and safest places in the United States. We are an academically competitive university where students prepare for successful careers and to engage with the world. Saint Michael’s College works with each student individually to ensure success.
St. Michael’s offers 50 undergraduate subjects, including Business, Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Economics, Journalism, Pharmacy, Pre-Med, and Pre-Law. There are many opportunities for academic enrichment, including a Phi-Beta Kappa-Chapter, an honors society, independent research, internships, and study abroad. Check out our three-year Bachelor degrees in Business, Biology, and other subjects.
After graduation, 100% of our students are working (85%) or going to graduate school (15%). Within 5 years of graduation, over 50% of our students enter (post) graduate school.
Internships and Work Experience
Students obtain internships and valuable work experience with all kinds of employers. The office of Career Services helps international students identify and receive suitable internships, and, after their program, explore work opportunities.
Three or Four-Year Degrees
Several majors may be completed in just three years, instead of the usual four. Students do this by completing two six-week summer programs followed by some on-line courses.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Program
IB diploma holders will receive up to one year of university credit as well as a guaranteed scholarship.
A Comprehensive Education (Liberal Arts)
Students not only attain a deep understanding of their major field of study, but also a broad knowledge of the world’s critical fields. Skills taught in every class, regardless of subject, are those demanded by the world’s employers:
- Critical Thinking
- Problem Solving
- Synthesis of Knowledge across Subjects
This approach to academics is often referred to as ‘Liberal Arts and Sciences.’
Saint Michael’s College is consistently in the Top 100 according to US News and World Report. Newsweek magazine called Saint Michael’s a “hidden treasure” that “deserves more national recognition.”
International students are eligible to receive scholarships in recognition of one or more of the following traits:
- Academic Potential
- A variety of Interests
- Experience in Leadership
- A Background in Volunteering or Social Justice.
Students with TOEFL or IELTS below 79/6.5 may apply for conditional admittance and enter Saint Michael’s 1+3 Pathway Program. Most students will complete their degree in 4 years—which is the same amount of time it takes for native English speakers to complete their undergraduate degree.
The Student Body
We are a multi-cultural, multi-national, multi-belief campus. Of the 2,500 students on campus, about 200 are international students from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Canada.
Students participate in a variety of activities, including sports, the arts, student leadership, social justice, as well as a huge variety of clubs and associations. We’re a residential college, which means that almost all of our students live on-campus and dine in a residence hall.
Almost all of Saint Michael’s 1,900 undergraduate students live on campus, located just minutes from downtown Burlington, Vermont. Burlington has been declared among the safest and healthiest cities in the United States.
We are also close to some great outdoor activities, including skiing, hiking, mountain climbing, biking, and sailing. We are a two hour drive to Montreal, three hours to Boston, and a short flight to New York City.
