The New York Times chose 11 community colleges in the United States, including Seattle Central, as "models" for the transfer success of their graduates. The 2007 article, "For High Achievers, a New Destination," focused attention on high achieving students who choose to begin their university degrees at a community college.
Students in the College Bridge (CB) program have the option of earning college credit as they continue to develop their English skills. They are guaranteed acceptance into college classes with no further testing. Overall, the average GPA of our international students in college programs is 3.3 (with 4.0 being perfect).
Seattle Central offers first-rate preparation for transferring to a four-year college or university. Here’s proof from a recent study:
| Type of student | Average GPA during third and fourth years of Bachelor’s degree (on a 0 – 4 point scale) |
| *Original UW students | 3.17 |
| **Seattle Central transfer students | 3.26 |
* Original UW students: last school attended before UW was high school
** Seattle Central Transfer Students: last school attended before UW was Seattle Central Community College
Our tuition is approximately $8,800/academic year (three quarters). Housing costs in Seattle are lower than in many other cities, keeping the overall cost of education more affordable.
