About Los Angeles Pierce College

Located in sunny Southern California, Los Angeles Pierce College (LAPC) is one of the top transfer colleges in the state! Many of our students transfer to campuses in the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) systems. LAPC offers courses in 145 disciplines which includes 85 degree programs and 60 certificate programs. Approximately 14,000 students enroll each semester, with international students attending from over 45 countries around the world. Students can pursue a 1-year Certificate of Completion, an Associates Degree, or prepare for university transfer.

LAPC is one of nine campuses within the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). As a community college, we are part of the post-secondary level of education in the United States. The college has a solid reputation for being a student-friendly institution, offering students high-quality and challenging courses that will prepare them for university or vocational work. LAPC students benefit from smaller class sizes and lower tuition than a four-year university.

LAPC is located in upscale Woodland Hills, California, a thriving suburb of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley.  The summers are warm and the winters are mild which enables students to explore the area year-round. Full-time LAPC students are eligible for a Los Angeles (L.A.) Metro Go Pass which allows them to ride the public transportation Metro System for free (subjec to change). The L.A. Metro Orange Line bus has a stop directly in front of LAPC.

Most students live in apartments or rooms in the vicinity of the college. There are also home stay programs in the area where students may live with local families.

Academic Programs

LAPC offers Associates Degrees, Associates Degrees for Transfer (ADTs), and Certificates of Completion. The college also prepares students for university transfer by offering a variety of general education and major preparation coursework.

While LAPC offers courses in 145 disciplines, some of our popular majors are:

  • Agricultural Sciences
  • Biology
  • Biotechnology
  • Business Administration
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering
  • Film, Television, and Electronic Media
  • Hospitality and Hotel Management
  • Media Arts
  • Pre-Nursing
  • Theater Arts
  • Veterinary Technology

University Transfer Opportunities

Many students who attend LAPC complete their transfer requirements before attending a 4-year university. This includes courses in general education and major preparation which will transfer to the university for credit. Each new student will have the opportunity to meet with an academic counselor to create a comprehensive educational plan.
