Austin, Texas is considered the live music capital of the world. It hosts the world famous South by Southwest Festival and Austin City Limits Music Festival. Not only is it home to many music festivals, it is also the home of many other industries like technology, startups, entertainment, education, retail, and many more. It’s an attractive city for international students with its relatively low cost of living and wide variety of attractions. Below are three highlighted programs where students can study English in Austin, Texas.
The English Language Program (ELP) on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin provides students with a comprehensive education in English. The ELP offers seven different levels, catering to students at every level. The focus of the program is to prepare students for entry into colleges and universities in the USA, and prepare students for professional and personal reasons. Classes focus on grammar, listening, idioms, speaking, reading, writing, and discussion. The Academic English Program (AEP) is for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree and wish to enter into a master’s or Phd program.
The Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP) is one of the oldest English language programs in the state of Texas. They offers students English courses all year round. Classes primarily focus on helping students prepare for admission to college or university. Classes center on reading, writing, grammar, and speaking. In addition, they also offer courses in Executive English, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and English Language and American Culture Program.
