English Language Institute (ELI)

The English Language Institute (ELI) at Florida State College at Jacksonville offers non-credit English language instruction for F-1 visa students from diverse linguistic backgrounds. ELI is dedicated to helping non-native English speakers develop their language skills and succeed academically, personally and professionally.

ELI at FSCJ provides a supportive and immersive environment that encourages students to improve their English proficiency through interactive classroom instruction, cultural experiences and language practice. The program offers three levels of English language courses.

ELI not only focuses on language acquisition, but also aims to familiarize students with American culture and academic expectations. Cultural activities, field trips and interaction with native English speakers are organized to provide students with a broader understanding of American culture.

Students who complete the ELI's intensive English program may meet the English language proficiency requirements for admission to FSCJ's degree programs. This pathway enables students to continue their education and pursue their desired academic goals in the United States.
