Your Journey to SUNY JCC
The State University of New York at Jamestown Community College (SUNY JCC) proudly welcomes students from throughout the world. We have been called home by international students from over 60 different countries. Located in Western New York, Jamestown Community College is in a small city that will make you feel comfortable and "at-home." while we're close enough to large cities like Buffalo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh to allow for weekend and holiday excursions.
SUNY JCC offers international students an affordable pathway to achieve their academic and career goals in a supportive, community environment. As part of the State University of New York, we offer you opportunities to be part of the largest system of public higher education in the United States while enjoying the personal attention and small college feel that will put you on the path to success.
Our dedicated Global Learning Team will work with you from admissions through graduation to create the learning experience you want and support you every step of the way.
Academic Pathway
At SUNY JCC students earn a US-recognized credential called an Associate Degree in 2 years. This degree typically satisfies the first half of requirements for a bachelor’s degree in the US, but for a much lower cost. Whether you want to become a healthcare professional, an engineer, a teacher, a global ambassador, or a successful business owner, we can help you find the right program for you and support your transfer pathway to a 4-year university to complete a bachelor’s degree. Credits earned at SUNY JCC transfer smoothly to bachelor's degree programs at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
International students find a strong support system at SUNY JCC including faculty advisors, counselors, tutors, and library personnel who will focus on your individual needs. Classes at JCC are small - typically between 14 and 32 students - so your professors will know you by name. You won't get lost in a crowd here.
International students also have opportunities to participate in honors and leadership programming at SUNY JCC.
Career Pathway
Gaining work experience as a college student is important to remain competitive in the job market, but working in the US as an international student can be confusing. Our Global Learning and Career Services teams work closely together to help you navigate employment requirements in the US.
We assist international students with on-campus employment, academic internships for credit (paid and unpaid), and post-graduation employment authorization through the United States Customs and Immigration Services.
Financial Pathway
The financial commitment to attend school in the US can feel overwhelming for students and their families. Starting at SUNY JCC can save you tens of thousands of dollars on your journey to complete your bachelor's degree. SUNY JCC awards a significant housing scholarship to every admitted international student living on campus, making SUNY JCC one of the best value options for students studying in the US.
The Global Learning team at SUNY JCC is available to discuss detailed costs including tuition, housing, meal plans, books, health insurance and other expenses you will incure as an international student.
Campus Life
Your experience at SUNY JCC is much more than attending classes. It’s where you can live, work, and play! International students have access to modern, apartment-style housing at Hillside Suites on the SUNY JCC campus. Suites are shared among 4 students and offer private, fully furnished bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and shared living room, kitchen, and dining areas. Suitemates create bonds with both American and other international students as suitemates and neighbors. There is always something going on or someone to visit.
At SUNY JCC we schedule activities every week in our Student Union including music, motivational speakers, and interactive activities. You can pursue many different interests and make even more friends by joining a student club or even starting a new one! International Club is a popular choice and received Student Club of the Year in 2023. International students lead this club and plan activities and excursions to experience different aspects of American life.
Jayhawk Athletics is also a way to get involved with options including men's and women's basketball, golf, and soccer as well as men's baseball and wrestling and women's softball and volleyball.
You will also be able to enjoy a vibrant arts scene with an engaging art gallery and a theater offering musicals, plays, and music ensembles from classical to rock.
